District 186 is open | January 19, 2024
In anticipation of exceptionally cold temperatures expected tomorrow morning and a water main break that is still under repair at Jefferson Middle School, Springfield Public School District 186 will have an e-learning day on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. ALL District 186 schools will have an e-learning day on January 16th. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our utmost priority, and we thank you for your understanding as we collectively navigate through these weather challenges. Based on the weather forecast we anticipate being in school on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. We have enacted our E-Learning day plan that allows students to receive asynchronous instruction at home, in lieu of using the District’s five extra days that have historically been added to the end of the school year. To learn more about District 186’s E-Learning plan visit our E-Learning webpage - https://www.sps186.org/page/e-learning-information

Thanks to Springfield Police Department for coming in to our kindergarten classrooms as part of their Books and Badges program. Officers read a book to the students, made party hats, had treats and gave each student a book to take home.

‘Twas the Night Before the Holiday Shop ...And all through the school not a student was stirring, not even Mrs. Butcher. The gifts were displayed on the tables with care in hopes that the students soon would be there. We can't wait to see everyone at the holiday shop! Shopping starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m..

Ridgely Elementary Parents, we are excited to be hosting the Penguin Patch Holiday Shop again this year. Our students will have so much fun secretly shopping for Christmas gifts. The holiday shop will run from Dec. 8th - Dec. 15th . Each child will have the opportunity to shop independently for gifts for their entire family. A holiday shop is a great excuse for kids to earn money. Making beds, feeding pets and helping siblings are just a few ideas. The Penguin Patch budget envelopes allow for you and your child to select the amount of money they can spend on each person on their list. Watch for money envelopes to be sent home on Monday!

Also, all changes to buses have been entered into the First View App. You can use this app to track your student's bus and be informed of any bus number changes. We appreciate your patience and cooperation this morning.
